Article 1 The name of this club shall be Mid-American Pigeon Club
Article 2The object of this club shall be to encourage the breeding, exhibiting and sale of all purebred varieties of pigeons, to create a cooperative spirit among the different breeders and help one another, to create a wider interest in pigeons by holding shows and/or swaps at such times and places as is deemed best by the officers and members of the club. Article 3 The officers of this club shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer and three directors. Officers appointed by the President shall be Publication Editor and Election Commissioner. Show Secretary shall be appointed by the agreement of the President and the Board of Directors. Article 4 The President shall preside at the Annual meeting to be scheduled on Friday night before the show. He/she shall maintain a general supervision over the affairs of the club. The Vice-President shall act in the absence of the President at any meetings. The Secretary/Treasurer shall keep the minutes of all meetings, recording the same in a book for that purpose. He/she shall give due notice of all meetings and keep all records. He or she shall collect all money due the club and keep a record of all money received or spent. He/she shall pay all bills allowed by the club. The Board of Directors is responsible for the conduct of the club.
Article 5 The officers shall be elected every two years. The Nomination ballots are to be sent out in the May/June newsletter and must be mailed back by Aug 15. The final election ballots will be mailed out in the July/August newsletter to be completed and postmarked no later than October 15. All ballots must have the voter’s signature. Family memberships get one vote. The elected officers shall be announced and take office at the Annual meeting prior to New Business. The results of the election shall be published in the November/December newsletter also. Article 6 Any person of good repute may become a member of the club. Payment of dues shall be paid to the Secretary/Treasurer who then shall issue a membership card, Constitution and By-Laws, and the last two newsletters. Constitution and By-laws will be sent to all members when it is revised. Dues shall be $20.00 per year for family membership, $10.00 for single membership, $5.00 for Juniors 13-17 years of age, Free for Juniors 7-12 years of age. Dues shall be paid by July 1st for renewal of membership each year.
Article 7 The Club shall meet Friday night before the show at the show hall for the annual meeting. The President, upon notification of all members, may change the time and place of any meeting. Officers and members may call special meetings, if necessary, but only the business for which the meeting was called may be acted upon. In order to conduct club business, five present members and a majority of officers shall constitute a quorum. Article 8 Roberts Rules of Order shall be adhered to at Club Meetings in the conducting of business.
Article 9 This club shall hold a minimum of one show/swap yearly at such times and places as the members and officers shall choose and shall be financed out of the club treasury.
Article 10 Amendments to the Constitution may be proposed in writing by July 1st for the September mailing for the annual meeting to be voted on by 2/3 vote of the members present, and then published in the newsletter for a vote by the entire membership.
Article 11 Any member accused of dishonorable conduct shall be cited to appear before the Officers of the Club, who shall investigate the charges and report to the Club with their recommendations for action to be taken. Should the Officers recommend the member so accused be expelled, a ballot shall be mailed and if 2/3 of the active members shall favor expulsion, the member shall be declared expelled and shall forfeit all claims against the club. Article 12 Should a vacancy occur in any of the Offices, the Board of Directors shall appoint a person to fill the vacancy until the next election.
Article 13 This organization shall not be dissolved without the written consent of ¾ of the participating members, put in the form of a petition, at one meeting and acted upon at a special meeting. On such dissolution, the assets of the club shall be frozen for one year, at which time it may be donated to a well known, worthy organization, as the vote of the members dictate. |
